Disadvantages of Correspondence Courses

When people find out about these distance courses they often start thinking that these courses are perfect and it is not possible for them to have any disadvantages. But contrary to popular beliefs there are some major shortcomings to these courses. Some of the important ones are listed below:
· The biggest shortcoming can be that to complete successful E learning, you need to have a computer which has a speed internet access. Although computers have become very common in today’s world but the accompany technology and people who are computer savvy are yet to in majority. Hence people who are technologically challenged will not be able to take full advantage to online courses.
· Another road block in the path of distance education is that it does not offer all the desired courses to the students. Although there are many courses online but the ones which are in demand with traditional classes are missing.
· Many people who opt for distance learning courses have had troubles with employers as still companies prefer people with traditional degrees over people who have obtained their degrees through a computer. The root of this prejudice lies in the mindsets of people who think that education can only be imparted in the popular environment of the school.
· There is one very important thing that people miss when in a distance learning course. It is the physical interaction between teachers and students. Often it has been seen that these interactions help in building the person’s personality. And while undertaking the course they study alone from their home, as a result students sometimes lose their motivation to study and that can affect their career as a whole.
As we have seen there are some basic disadvantages of distance learning courses and it is very hard to bypass them.
