Admissions in Correspondence Courses
By Sarvesh
Studying has never been easy. These days’ students can easily study while working because of technological advancement. One can earn a degree without even literally going to school every day. Distance learning or Correspondence Courses are offered over the internet for those who are separated from the school by both time and distance. This is not the usual classroom setting that we normally enroll in school. The lessons are generally conducted online through the use of several technologies, such as web conference and message boards.
The screening process for correspondence courses is different from the normal classroom setting that we know. Schools that offer correspondence courses may require the student to fill out their enrollment form and have it signed either electronically signed or in person and then submitted to their office. The school may also request for a copy of the latest transcript from the latest school that you last attended. It is recommended to include any other transcript that can show any credit for a prerequisite even if it is just 6 hours of credit.
Just like how you enroll on any university, enrolling in a correspondence course would also require admission fees. These fees differ in each school that you want to enroll. In average, the total admission fee that you have to prepare, just to be safe, would be around $300. Some schools would require the results of their local Education Assessment in their state just like THEA (Texas Higher Education Assessment) and the Illinois State of education and student assessment.
Students from other countries are also welcomed to enroll in a correspondence course. They are, however, required to take the TOEFL examination and they should have a grade of at least 550 to have a successful admission of the correspondence course they have enrolled in.
